Charlotte FC to Begin 2022 Major League Soccer Season at D.C. United
November 22, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - Charlotte FC News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC - Charlotte FC today announced the Club's opening league match of the 2022 season will be played against D.C. United at Audi Field on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
Kickoff will be at 6:00 p.m. ET with broadcast details to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
"We are now less than 100 days away from opening our inaugural season and the buzz and excitement in Charlotte, and throughout the Carolinas, continues to grow as we get closer and closer to opening kick," said Club President Nick Kelly. "Everything we've been building towards as a Club will become a reality when we take the pitch for the first time in a competitive match against D.C. United. For us, D.C. is one of the shortest away days in the league, so it is an excellent opportunity for our fans to travel. It is going to be amazing to see so many of our supporters back our team for the first time in Major League Soccer."
D.C. United, one of the original clubs in Major League Soccer, are four-time league champions, three-time U.S. Open Cup winners, and lifted the 1998 Concacaf Champions Cup.
In 2021, D.C. United narrowly missed the playoffs finishing 8th place in the Eastern Conference on 47 points.
Last week, the Club announced the first-ever MLS match at Bank of America Stadium when Charlotte FC will take on the LA Galaxy on March 5.
Upper-level Inaugural Match tickets against the LA Galaxy are available starting at $15 at CharlotteFootballClub.com.
