Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - On Friday, the Rapid City Rush and Central Hockey League announced that Rush forward Konrad Reeder has been named Sher-Wood CHL Player of the Month for February. Reeder becomes just the fourth Rush player in team history to earn a monthly league award and will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed watch courtesy of Sher-Wood and the Central Hockey League to recognize his accomplishment.
The Vanderhoof, British Columbia native finished the month with 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points to go along with plus-9 rating. He earned points in 12 of the 14 games played including seven multiple point games and three multiple goal games. The team was 8-1-3 when the veteran scored at least one point.
"I'm extremely honored to win this award," said Reeder. "This is truly a reflection of the team as I have had the opportunity to play with some great players that make my job easier. This is just a small individual award, but the main goal is securing a playoff spot and making a championship run."
Heading into the weekend, Reeder is riding a league-high five-game goal scoring streak and nine-game point streak. The 5-9, 175-pound forward currently ranks 3rd in the league with 31 goals and 4th overall with 67 points.
"It's very well deserved honor," said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras. "Konrad has been great for us all year, but when we lost two of our top forwards to the injury bug, he elevated his game and led us to our most successful month yet. He not only raised his individual game, but was instrumental in lifting the team's play. Konrad is a player that leaves it all on ice every game and plays much bigger than he is with his fearless play, setting an example for the rest of the team."
The Rush have battled injuries this entire season, losing over 260 man games due to injury, which included star forwards Jesse Schultz and Les Reaney missing all of February. In their absence, Reeder was instrumental in Rapid City's success, leading the team to their best month yet at 8-3-3. The recent surge has lifted the Rush from 5th-place to 3rd in the Turner Conference.
