Randy Boone Earns Fourth Win As Fisher Cats Beat Phillies 7-4 Sunday

Reading, PA---Brad Emaus drove in three runs with a home run and a single and Randy Boone allowed one earned run in seven innings as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated the Reading Phillies 7-4 Sunday afternoon.

Boone (4-2) picked up his first win in four weeks, limiting the Phillies to four hits, two runs (one earned), while walking two and striking out three.

New Hampshire (25-26) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Brian Dopirak hit a two-out, solo home run to right field off Reading starter and loser Vance Worley (4-3). It was Dopirak's eleventh home run of the season and third in two games against the Phillies.

Reading (27-21) tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Neil Sellers (3-for-3, RBI) walked and went to third on a double by Gus Milner. Sellers scored on a grounder to first by Paul Bako that David Cooper had trouble handling.

The Phillies moved in front 2-1 with an unearned run in the bottom of the third inning. Michael Taylor reached on an error and scored on a double by Neil Sellers.

The Fisher Cats reclaimed the lead for good in the top of the fourth inning. Adam Calderone (3-for-5, HR, 2B, 2 RBI) led off with a single and stole second base. Emaus then hit his fifth home run, a two-run shot to right-center to give New Hampshire a 3-2 lead.

Emaus drove in his third run of the day with a single in the top of the sixth inning. Calderone doubled, Cooper walked and Emaus singled to left field scoring Calderone.

New Hampshire added three more runs in the top of the seventh inning off Reading reliever Chance Chapman. Al Quintana walked, moved to second on a sacrifice by Luis Sanchez and scored on a single by Todd Donovan. Calderone followed with his seventh homer of the season, a two-run shot which made it 7-2 in favor of the Fisher Cats.

Edgar Estanga pitched a perfect eighth inning for New Hampshire, but the Phillies touched Sean Stidfole for five consecutive singles and two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. With the bases loaded, Manager Gary Cathcart called on 22-year old Danny Farquhar to shut down Reading. He struck out Brad Harman and Michael Taylor with the bases loaded to end the game and earn his first Eastern League save.

The Fisher Cats continue the road trip Monday night in Harrisburg. RHP Rey Gonzalez (2-2, 2.62) starts for New Hampshire. The Senators will counter with RHP Carlos Martinez (0-0, 5.40). Game time is 7:00pm and radio coverage begins at 6:45pm with the BayRing Pre-Game Show on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.

New Hampshire returns home on Friday, June 5 to begin a three-game series with Reading.
