San Antonio Rampage News Release
ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Like a bull in a china shop, the San Antonio Rampage shattered the Chicago Wolves unbeaten-in-regulation record with a 4-0 shutout Sunday afternoon at Allstate Arena. Joey Tenute scored a pair of goals, and David LeNeveu stopped all 35 shots to post his first shutout of the season.
The Rampage (11-5-1-3; 26 points), who are 3-0-0-1 in their last four games of their seven-game road trip, scored a pair of goals in both the first and third periods despite being out-shot 35-24.
Tenute opened the Rampage's scoring drive at 16:35 in the opening period before Enver Lisin scored his second goal in three games with a minute left in the period. David Spina and Keith Yandle extended their assist streaks to two games on Tenute's ninth goal of the season.
The second period featured a defensive battle. With San Antonio only taking six shots on Chicago netminer Robert Gherson, LeNeveu backstopped 16 shots in the scoreless stanza en route to his second consecutive win and his sixth AHL career shutout.
Ryan Caldwell tallied his third helper in as many games assisting on Josh Gratton's first goal of the year. Assigned from the Rampage's parent club Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday, the 2005 Calder Cup Champion gave San Antonio a 3-0 lead at the 5:01 mark of the final frame.
Already stretching his scoring streak to four games, Tenute capped the two-goal third period at 14:48 and gave San Antonio their first regulation win in Chicago since Feb. 4, 2004.
The Rampage, who now trail division-leading Chicago (13-1-1-0) by one point in the West Division, finish their road swing on Tuesday against Houston at the Toyota Center.
