Albany River Rats News Release

Hershey, PA - Jakub Klepis score two goals in the third period to lead the Hershey Bears to a 3-2 comeback win over the Albany River Rats Sunday afternoon at the Giant Center.

The River Rats benefited from some undisciplined play by Hershey in the opening minutes of the period as the Bears took three straight minors in the first seven minutes. Pat Dwyer made the hosts pay for their penalties as he roofed a one-touch pass from Jakub Petruzalek at 8:10 for a five-on-three power play goal, his third of the season, assisted by Petruzalek and Keith Aucoin. But Hershey returned the favor when Albany caught the penalty bug later in the period. Sami Lepisto made a perfect cross-ice pass to Joe Motzko, who one-timed the puck into the open net at 16:14, tying the game at one.

Albany suffered more penalty trouble in the second period when Brandon Nolan took back-to-back minors. However, this time it did not hurt the River Rats on the scoreboard. On the contrary, Dwyer pulled the Rats back in front when he raced in on a breakaway for an unassisted, shorthanded goal, at 12:27 of the second period. Dwyer's second goal of the game was Albany's first short-handed goal of the season and it put the visitors ahead 2-1. The River Rats had two more significant five-on-three opportunities in the latter part of the second period, but failed to score in what would haunt Albany in the third period.

After scoring a hat trick in Hershey's 6-4 win in Albany Friday night Jakub Klepis rallied his team again when he tied the game at 11:26 of the third period, scoring the Bears' second power play goal of the game. Three minutes later Klepis scored again, his second of the game and fifth of the season (all against Albany this weekend), to lift Hershey to a 3-2 come-from-behind win in front of an announce crowd of 10,016.

Frederic Cassivi earned the victory in goal for Hershey; making 29 saves on 31 shots. The Bears improved to 7-7-0-0 on the season and finished 2-for-7 on the power play. Michael Leighton was tagged with the loss in goal for Albany, stopping 24-of-27 shots, while the River Rats dropped to 8-8-0-1 on the season, ending the game 1-for-8 on the power play.

The River Rats will head back to the practice ice through the Thanksgiving holiday before starting next week's action on the road. Albany will travel to Massachusetts on Friday, November 23rd, to face their old affiliation the Lowell Devils at 7:05 pm. Albany's next home game comes on Saturday, November 24th against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers; a special 5:00 pm Saturday face off at the Times Union Center.
