
P-Bruins fall to Falcons 3-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Springfield Falcons 3-2 Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Pascal Pelletier and Brett Skinner. The 11-2-1 P-Bruins are back in action Wednesday at The Hartford Civic Center to take on the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:00 p.m.
The Falcons scored the first two goals of the first period, while on a major power play. At the 9:47 mark, Patrick Thoresen scored off a rebound on a shot from T.J. Kemp. Sebastien Bisaillon recorded the second assist. At the 10:30 mark, Kemp took a shot from the blue line and the puck was redirected into the net by Bisaillon. Fredrik Johansson had the second assist. The P-Bruins scored on a power play goal of their own at the 16:39 mark. Matt Lashoff worked the puck from the blue line to Vladimir Sobotka along the right boards. Sobotka took a shot and the puck was tipped from just outside the crease by Pelletier and into the net. Providence went into the first intermission trailing 2-1.
In the second period, Springfield scored the lone goal, while on the power play at the 14:37 mark. Colin McDonald scored, with Kemp and Rob Schremp getting the assists. The Falcons took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.
In the third period, the P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 15:24 mark. Martins Karsums intercepted a clearing attempt at the blueline and passed the puck to Skinner. He put it under the crossbar into the upper right hand corner of the net. The P-Bruins were unable to tie the game in the third period and fell 3-2, suffering only their second loss of the season in regulation.
Tuukka Rask stopped 17 of 20 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jeff Deslauriers made 29 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 1-for-7 on the power play and 4-for-7 on the penalty kill.
The Atlantic Division-leading Providence Bruins head back on the road Wednesday, versus the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:00 p.m. The P-Bruins return home Friday versus the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday versus the Manchester Monarchs at 4:05 p.m. Information on P-Bruins season ticket packages and individual tickets for the 2007-08 regular season can be obtained by calling the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging onto the team website at www.providencebruins.com.
