San Antonio Rampage News Release

Steve Gainey tallied a four-point night, collecting a goal and three assists, to lift the San Antonio Rampage to their third consecutive win as they defeated the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 4-1 in a Sunday matinee at Omaha Civic Auditorium. Playing their third game in as many nights, the Rampage picked up all six possible points by sweeping Omaha in a back-to-back series.

Brian Boucher stopped 29 shots, allowing only one goal for Omaha, to collect his second consecutive win.

Gainey, the Rampage's leading scorer with 19 points, extended his point streak to three games when he scored the game's first goal at 9:44. Martin Sonnenberg collected his third assist of the season, and Kiel McLeod's first, on the power-play goal.

Omaha defenseman Justin Taylor recorded his second goal in the two-game series to give the Kinghts their only goal of the night at the 14:55 mark in the first.

Gainey, along with Matthew Spiller, helped put the Rampage back on top with one second left in the first period with Randall Gelech's third goal of the season. Later, in the second period, Gainey helped give San Antonio a two-goal cushion as Chris McAllister scored a power-play goal with only five seconds remaining in the period.

Gelech would assure the Rampage their first three-game win streak since their first three games at home in October with his second goal of the night on an empty-net with 1:14 left in regulation as Gainey collected his third assist and taking part in every Rampage goal of the night.

The Phoenix Coyotes AHL affiliate will look to continue their winning streak to four games as they take on the 6th ranked West Division Chicago Wolves on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Allstate Arena.
