HERSHEY'S start to 2005-06 has reached historic proportions after a 4-2 victory Sunday night at GIANT Center.

The win gave the BEARS 18 wins and 42 points after 28 games played this season. The 42 points ties both the 1946-47 team and the 1996-97 squad for most points after 28 games played. Brooks Laich scored his seventh goal of the season just 41 seconds into the game to stake HERSHEY to a 1-0 lead. After the Sound Tigers took a 2-1 lead in the second period, the BEARS scored three unanswered goals to close out the victory. Mark Wotton tied the game with his third goal of the season at 16:32 of the second period, with Chris Bourque scoring the game-winning goal at 1:27 of the third period. Dave Steckel added an empty net goal at 19:07 to put the game on ice.

Frederic Cassivi won his 13th game of the season, making 23 saves. Cassivi lowered his goals against average to 2.07 after the game, ranking him second in the AHL. Bourque was named the game's number one star, Laich earned number two star honors while Bridgeport goaler Wade Dubielewicz picked up three star honors.

HERSHEY now owns a record of 18-4-2-4, and trails first place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton by three in the East. The BEARS lead third place Philadelphia by 14 points with a game in hand after the victory Sunday night.

The BEARS continue the four-game homestand Saturday night against the Hamilton Bulldogs. Face-off is at 7:00 p.m.
