
P-Bruins Defeat Springfield 6-2

Providence, RI -- The Providence Bruins used three second period goals by Nathan Robinson to defeat the Springfield Falcons 6-2 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday night. Eric Healey added two goals, while Ben Guite had the other. Healey extended his scoring streak to eight games with his two goals this evening, while Guite extended his home point-scoring streak to eight games with his goal this evening.
The P-Bruins opened up a 1-0 lead late in the first period, when Healey scored on a pass from Tyler Redenbach. Robinson had the second assist as the P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Bruins added to their lead in the second period on three Robinson goals. The first one was unassisted on a blast from the circle at the 12:10 mark. The second goal was scored on a 2-on-1 breakaway at the 14:21 on a play set up by Garret Stroshein. His third goal was from just outside the crease on a cross-ice pass from David Lundbohm at the 16:16 mark. Shawn McEachern had the other assist and Providence took a 4-0 lead into the second intermission.
With the Falcons on the power play to start the third period, Andrew Alberts made a steal at the blueline and got the puck to Guite who scored shorthanded giving the Bruins a 5-0 lead. Springfield got on the board at the 15:23 mark of the final period to breakup Tim Thomas' shutout bid. Darren Reid scored and Ryan Vesce had the assist. The Falcons cut the lead to three at the 18:28 mark when Norm Milley was awarded a penalty shot and scored. The Bruins added one more goal with time expiring in the game. Healey scored an empty net goal and Lundbohm picked up his second assist of the game as the P-Bruins went on to win 6-2.
Thomas stopped 27 of 29 shots for the P-Bruins, earning his sixth victory of the season. Brian Eklund stopped 27 of 32 shots for the Falcons suffering the loss. Providence was 0 for 4 on the power play, while the Falcons were 0 for 7 on the man advantage.
The Bruins are back in action at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, December 16, versus the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:05 p.m. P-Bruins players' wives and girlfriends will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for an hour before the game on behalf of Toys for Tots. The Providence Bruins first jersey auction of the season is underway. The P-Bruins are auctioning off the first set of gold third jerseys through a live auction on the team's website, providencebruins.com. The jersey auction will run through Friday, December 16 at 5:00 p.m. and jerseys will be shipped in time for the holidays.
Reminder: The Providence Bruins game originally scheduled for Sunday, February 12 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, December 21 at 7:05 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. All tickets issued for the February 12 game date will be valid and accepted on December 21.
