San Antonio Rampage News Release
DES MOINES (March 28, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage (42-20-5-1) set multiple franchise records with a 4-1 win over the Iowa Wild (21-42-2-2) in front of 6,008 at Wells Fargo Arena Saturday afternoon. The Rampage finish the season series against the Wild 7-1-0-0.
Sam Brittain, in his first career AHL start, made 30 saves on 31 shots and four Rampage players recorded a goal in the win. Bobby Butler led San Antonio in scoring with a goal and an assist.
The Rampage opened up the scoring when John McFarland put the puck through the legs of Johan Gustafsson on the power play 12:04 into the first period. Just 26 seconds later, Dany Heatley made it a 2-0 game with another power-play tally assisted by Mark Mancari and Dylan Olsen.
In the second period, Quinton Howden was unable to capitalize on a penalty shot and Wade Megan sent a short-handed breakaway attempt high over the cross bar. Brittain made three late saves to stop all 16 of Iowa's shots in the middle frame, and the Rampage remained ahead 2-0 after 40 minutes.
Bobby Butler gave San Antonio their third unanswered goal when the puck bounced off the post and into the back of the net 4:22 into the third period, then Wade Megan gave the Rampage a 4-0 lead with a short-handed goal from the slot at 13:23. Olivier Archambault ended Brittain's shutout with just 1:18 to play in regulation to account for the 4-1 final.
The Silver and Black finished 2-for-5 on the power play and held Iowa scoreless on six man-advantage opportunities.
