OKC Loses Seventh Straight, 7-3 to Flames

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Adirondack Flames scored six straight goals in the first two periods en route to a 7-3 win over the Oklahoma City Barons Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Oklahoma City's losing streak grew to a franchise-high seven games.

Making his AHL debut, Adirondack defenseman Kenney Morrison had a goal and two assists, leading all skaters with three points.

In his 22nd consecutive start in net, Oklahoma City goalie Laurent Brossoit allowed four goals on 12 Adirondack shots before being replaced by Tyler Bunz after the first period. With his seventh straight loss, Brossoit's season record fell to 21-9-4.

Barons defenseman Nick Pageau recorded his first career AHL point, assisting on a C.J. Stretch goal in the third period. Pageau was the second Barons player to record a career-first AHL point in as many days, with Jackson Houck accomplishing the feat in Friday's loss at Utica.

The Flames recorded goals in five different situations, netting scores at even strength, on the power play, shorthanded, on a penalty shot (while shorthanded) and with an empty OKC net.

Adirondack opened the games scoring with six straight goals in the first 32:30 of play. After Trevor Gillies gave the Flames a 1-0 lead at 5:18 of the first period, Ben Hanowski added a power play score three minutes later, batting the puck out of the air and into the Barons net for a 2-0 Flames lead.

With Oklahoma City on the power play following a roughing penalty to Adirondack's Dustin Stevenson at 13:38 of the first, Garnet Hathaway scored a shorthanded goal to extend the Flames' lead to 3-0. Garnet's goal was the sixth shorthanded goal the Barons have allowed since Jan. 17.

At 19:24 of the first, with the Barons once again on the power play, the Flames' Ken Agostino was awarded a penalty shot after being fouled by OKC's Jason Williams on a breakaway opportunity. Agostino converted the penalty shot to give the Flames a 4-0 advantage after one period.

With Bunz in the Barons net to begin the second period, Max Reinhart scored the Flames' fifth goal of the game at 1:23 of the frame, pushing the rebound of a Sena Acolatse shot past the OKC net minder.

After Morrison's goal at 12:30 of the second period made the score 6-0 in favor of the Flames, Oklahoma City scored the next three goals, with Brad Winchester netting his first as a Baron at 14:06 of the second period, and Matt Ford and Stretch adding third period power play goals at 4:41 and 13:34 respectively.

David Wolf scored an empty net goal for Adirondack at 16:33 of the third to give the Flames a 7-3 lead.

The Barons remain fifth in the AHL's Western Conference and second in the West Division at 82 standings points. With a win over Iowa on Saturday, the division-leading San Antonio Rampage increased their lead over Oklahoma City to eight points, with each team having eight remaining games, including one against each other in Oklahoma City on April 7.

The Barons' next game is Thursday, April 2, when the team travels to Charlotte, N.C. for a 6 p.m. CST start against the Checkers at Time Warner Cable Arena.
