Springfield Falcons News Release

Springfield, Mass. - The Hartford Wolf Pack rallied past the Springfield Falcons, 3-2, in overtime tonight at the MassMutual Center.

By reaching overtime, the Falcons picked up one point and now sit at 34-26-8-0 on the season with 76 points. Hartford has a 6-0-0-3 lead with one game remaining in the 10-game series with Springfield.

Falcons goaltender Scott Munroe recorded his second loss this weekend, allowing three goals on 23 shots. Wolf Pack goaltender Mackenzie Skapski stopped 27-of-29. Springfield was unproductive on three power play opportunities, while the penalty kill unit stopped two-of-three Hartford man-advantages.

The Falcons were first to light the lamp and tallied the only two in the opening frame. At the 15:18 mark, Mike Hoeffel passed up the ice to Michael Chaput in the left circle. Chaput let off a shot that was tipped by Dana Tyrell for his 13th this season. One minute later, Frederic St. Denis fired a wrister that was redirected by Ryan Craig to give the falcons a two-goal lead. T.J. Tynan earned a point with the secondary assist.

The Wolf Pack finally responded at the 6:14 mark of the second period. While on the power-play, Chris Bourque ripped a shot from the slot with the help of Mat Bodie and Oscar Lindberg.

Danny Kristo evened the score at the 8:59 mark of the final period. Kristo faked out a defender with a quick toe drag and slotted it from the bottom of the right circle off assists from Marek Hrivik and Bodie.

The teams ended regulation tied for the seventh time this season. However, Hartford scored just 1:48 into the extra frame to top Springfield, 3-2. Kristo took control of the puck at the blue line, side-stepped the defenders and beat Munroe to notch his second of the game. Assists went to Bodie and Hrivik.

The Falcons will wrap-up the weekend when they travel to face the Worcester Sharks on Sunday, March 29 at 3 p.m.
