San Antonio Rampage News Release

DES MOINES, Iowa - The San Antonio Rampage got a pair of goals from defenseman Sean Sullivan as they topped the Iowa Chops 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Arena. San Antonio picked up the win to complete their 13-game rodeo road trip with a 4-5-2-2 record.

The Chops got on the scoreboard first as forward Troy Bodie slipped a slap shot five-hole on a power play at 15:52. Just under two minutes later the Rampage answered as captain Jeff Hoggan scored on the doorstep, his fourth goal in the last three games, on a nifty setup from behind the net by forward Chad Kolarik at 17:41. It was the team leading 22nd for Hoggan and the 100th professional goal of his career.

In the second period the Rampage took their first lead of the night as Sullivan took a nice touch pace from forward Kevin Porter and hammered home a slap shot from the top of the right circle at 6:04 for a power play tally. Sullivan would tally again on a power play later in the period, this time with less than a minute to go in the frame, from the high slot on a rebound to make it 3-1. The goals were his fifth and sixth of the season and it was his first two goal game as a professional.

In the third period the Chops would score twice to tie the game. First forward Matt Caruanna at 3:39, then Bodie scored his second of the night to tie the game at 11:03. It was the third two-goal third period lead the Rampage have failed to hold in the last eight games.

The game went to overtime where the Chops out shot the Rampage 4-1, but neither scored and a shootout was necessary.

In the shootout forwards Kyle Turris and Alexander Nikulin scored for San Antonio, while goalie Al Montoya stopped four of five Iowa shooters to seal the win. FINAL Score San Antonio 4, Iowa 3 in a shootout.

Montoya stopped 37 of 40 shots in 65 minutes and four of five in the shootout to get the win and improve to 4-14-1. Former Rampage goalie David LeNeveu stopped 33 of 36 in 65 minutes and three of five in the shootout and dropped to 15-13-4. The Rampage went 2-7 on the power play while the Chops were 1-4.

The Rampage host West Division rival Rockford this Saturday at 7 PM at the AT&T Center. It's Military Appreciation Night and the Rampage will wear special jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.
