San Antonio Rampage News Release
San Antonio - The Rampage rallied back from a 4-1 deficit but fell to the Iowa Stars 5-4 Saturday night at the AT&T Center. Right Wing Enver Lisin posted a two-goal night, both power-play goals, for the Rampage while Yanick Lehoux and Bill Thomas each had two-point nights.
With four minutes left in the opening period, Iowa jumped to a 3-0 lead with a power-play goal by Junior Lessard, an even strength goal by Toby Petersen, and a short-handed goal by Chris Conner each a minute apart. The Rampage hopped on the board with 44 seconds left in the first period as Keith Yandle and Pascal Rheaume teamed up to help Lisin score his first goal of the night, a power-play goal.
The second period was highlighted by Iowa's fourth goal as Janos Vas fed the puck to Marius Holtet to go three up on San Antonio.
The Rampage stampeded right back into the closing period setting a franchise record for fastest two goals scored in a period with just 36 seconds between them. Lisin tallied his second power-play goal with help from Bryan Helmer and Olivier Latendresse at the 1:20 mark before Lehoux helped Thomas cut the deficit to 4-3 at the 1:56 mark. Lehoux and Thomas teamed up again to help reining AHL MVP Don MacLean post his first goal of the season and to tie the game.
With 10 minutes left in the game, Stars' defenseman Mark Ardelan put the puck past David LeNeveu's left shoulder to seal Iowa's first victory of the season.
The Rampage make their first road trip starting with a back-to-back series in Peoria Friday and Saturday before returning to the AT&T Center Sunday for a 5 p.m. matinee against Texas rival Houston Aeros.
