San Antonio Rampage News Release

HOUSTON - Joel Perrault and Don MacLean each recorded two goals in the Rampage's season finale with a 4-2 victory over Texas rival Houston Aeros at the Toyota Center Sunday evening. The Rampage finish the season with a tied record against I-10 rival with a 6-5-0-1 record.

Houston recorded only two shots in the opening period, the first shot six minutes into the session, as the Rampage recorded 17 shots against Aeros goaltender Miroslav Kopriva. Perrault posted the first tally on the scoreboard at the 9:42 mark in the first stanza with a goal around Kopriva's left leg. Ryan Flinn and Joe Callahan were credited with the assists on Perrault's ninth goal of the season.

After a holding penalty was called on former Rampage forward Josh Olson at the 18:06 mark in the first period, the Rampage tacked on their second goal 47 seconds later for a two-goal lead heading into the first intermission. Perrault was credited with the goal when Rampage defenseman Bryan Helmer took a shot from the blue line that was deflected off of Perrault and into the upper right corner of the net. Yanick Lehoux was credited with the other assist on Perrault's second goal of the night.

Shortly after the first intermission, MacLean caught a breakaway in the Rampage zone and skated cross center ice for a shot from the top of the slot that found its way into the net only 27 seconds into the period to put the Rampage up 3-0. Chris Ferraro was credited with the assist on the Rampage's second power-play goal along with Keith Yandle. Yandle's 33rd point makes him the franchise's all-time top scoring defensemen for a single season. MacLean's 32nd goal of the season makes him the Rampage's all-time leading goal scorer in a single season.

It took Houston only a minute to respond with a wrap-around goal by Aaron Voros past LeNeveu's right skate to bring the Aeros within one. Ryan Hamilton and Curtis Murphy were credited with the assists on Voros' 11th goal of the season.

MacLean added his second goal of the night with the Rampage's third power-play goal at the 14:39 mark in the second period when he tapped in a loose puck in the crease just inside the left post. Ferraro and Yandle were credited with the assists once again on MacLean's goal.

Just over two minutes later, Peter Olvecky cut the deficit in half when his shot from the left circle flew into the net just right of LeNeveu. Joel Ward and Murphy were credited with the assists on Olvecky's 12th goal of the season.

The third period remained scoreless while the Rampage were successful at holding the Aeros during a five-on-three penalty kill that lasted 1:36 with Helmer and Callahan making great plays in front of the net.

The Rampage end the season with their second-best record during their five-year history finishing sixth in the West Division with 70 points and a 32-42-2-4 record. Houston's loss marks the first time that the Aeros have lost five consecutive home games this season. The Aeros end the season with their worst record in their six-year AHL history and finish last in the West Division with 64 points and a 27-43-4-6 record.
