
Norfolk's Parenteau named CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Norfolk Admirals right wing Pierre Parenteau has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending April 15, 2007. Parenteau tallied two goals and five assists for seven points in three road games last week as the Admirals hit the 50-win mark for the first time in franchise history.
Closing out the regular season with three road games over the weekend, Parenteau recorded a four-point night with a goal and three assists as Norfolk doubled up Philadelphia on Friday, 6-3. On Saturday, Parenteau scored his 30th goal of the season in the third period to help the Admirals to a 6-5 win at Albany. And Sunday, he earned two assists in Norfolk's 5-3 loss in Bridgeport.
In recognition of his achievement, Parenteau will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Admirals home game.
A 24-year-old native of Hull, Que., Parenteau recorded 30 goals and 49 assists for 79 points in 68 games between Norfolk and Portland this season, tying for ninth in the AHL in scoring. He was acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks from Anaheim as part of a five-player trade on Dec. 28, 2006, and made his NHL debut with Chicago earlier this year, recording one assist in five games. The fourth-year pro has registered 83 goals and 116 assists for 199 points in 266 career AHL games.
