
'Dogs battle Amerks in North Division semi-finals

Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) closed out their regular season schedule last week and will now take on the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and Florida Panthers) in the first round of the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs. With 95 points in 80 games and a record of 43-28-3-6 this season, the Bulldogs finished in third place in the North Division standings, three points behind the second-place Americans (98 points in 80 games). The following is Hamilton's full first-round playoff schedule:

Hamilton rounded out the regular season with a 2-1-0-1 record in four games last week. The Bulldogs lost 4-3 in a shootout against the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings) on Wednesday night at Copps Coliseum. The 'Dogs then rebounded with two wins against the Griffs by scores of 3-1 at Copps Coliseum on Friday night and 4-2 on Saturday night at Van Andel Arena. On Sunday night, Hamilton dropped a 2-1 decision in Rochester.

BULLDOGS NOTES:
- RW Duncan Milroy finished the season as the Bulldogs leading scorer with 58 points (25-33-58)
- D Andre Benoit set a franchise record for defenceman with his fourth game-winning goal of the season in the 'Dogs 3-1 win over Grand Rapids on Friday night
- Hamilton had an AHL best four players play all 80 games this season: Kyle Chipchura, Dan Jancevski (who became the first Bulldog to reach the mark twice, as he also appeared in all 80 games for Hamilton in the 2004-05 season), Corey Locke and Ryan O'Byrne
- D Dan Jancevski finished fourth among AHL defensemen with a plus-22 rating
- D Mathieu Biron finished 13th in AHL defensemen scoring with 39 points (10-29-39)
- RW Matt D'Agostini finished 15th in AHL rookie scoring with 49 points (21-28-49)
- C Kyle Chipchura and RW Matt D'Agostini were tied for 17th in the AHL with five game-winning goals
- RW Andrei Kostitsyn finished tied for 7th in the AHL with a plus-24 rating in 50 games
