
Ramon Sanchez and Arturo Alvarez Called up by El Salvador

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose Earthquakes midfielders Arturo Alvarez and Ramon Sanchez have been named to the roster for the El Salvador national team for two upcoming World Cup qualifying matches in September. The players will join their national team teammates following the Quakes match this Saturday, Aug. 29 against the New England Revolution.
El Salvador faces the United States at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. PT. The match will be aired live on ESPN Classic and Galavision. The Salvadorans then play host to Costa Rica on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador at 6 p.m. PT.
Alvarez made his debut for El Salvador on Aug. 12 against Trinidad and Tobago in a qualifying match. Sanchez, who is the captain for El Salvador, also played against Trinidad and Tobago and has appeared in over 50 matches for El Salvador and has scored two goals. He has played in every World Cup qualifier for El Salvador for the 2010 World Cup.
