Rainiers Stifled By Bees, 4-1

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Tacoma Rainiers (39-36) notched nine base hits but turned them into just one run in a 4-1 loss to the Salt Lake Bees (43-32) on Saturday night at Smith's Ballpark.

First baseman Gordon Beckham (2x4, RBI) and catcher David Freitas (2x3, 2B, BB) both notched multiple hits for the Rainiers. Second baseman Danny Muno (1x3, BB) and shortstop Zach Vincej (1x2, R, BB) both reached base multiple times.

Tacoma starting pitcher Christian Bergman (4-5) took the loss after allowing four runs on 11 hits in five innings of work. He issued one walk and struck out five on 86 pitches (60 strikes).

Mike Morin worked two nearly flawless innings of relief, allowing just one walk and no hits while striking out two. Shawn Armstrong pitched a scoreless frame with one strikeout to close out the game.

Rainiers right-hander Bryan Evans (0-0, 7.36) and Bees southpaw Jose Suarez (0-2, 3.57) will take the mound as the series concludes on Sunday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. PT.
