Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, Tennessee - Dakota Hudson was brilliant in 8.0 innings Saturday night at AutoZone Park, limiting the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Marlins) to one run and picking up his Pacific Coast League-leading 10th win and lowering his league-best ERA to 2.04 in a 2-1 Memphis Redbirds (45-30) victory.
In his last four starts, Hudson is 4.0 with a 0.64 ERA. He has allowed just two runs and 22 hits in 28.0 innings. In nine starts since the beginning of May, Hudson has four outings with no earned runs and four more with one earned run allowed.
Hudson pitched into the ninth Saturday night before departing, and he induced 10 groundball outs.
Rangel Ravelo homered and was a double shy of the cycle, and he drove in both Memphis runs on the night. He tripled in the first, hit a solo homer leading off the fourth, and had an RBI single in the fifth. Oscar Mercado was 2-for-4, and Hudson helped himself with a double and scored on Ravelo's fifth-inning knock.
Edward Mujica came on after Hudson gave up two singles to start the ninth, and he allowed an RBI single but got a flyout, a groundout, and a strikeout to end the ballgame and pick up his seventh save of the year.
All four of Memphis' wins over New Orleans this season have been by one run.
The Redbirds' four-game series with New Orleans concludes tomorrow at 2:05 p.m. For more information on single-game tickets and ticket mini-memberships, visit www.memphisredbirds.com.
