Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Tacoma, WA - The Tacoma Rainiers had trouble finding any offensive momentum in an 8-1 loss to Salt Lake at Cheney Stadium on Friday.

The Tacoma lineup was able to muster just two hits in the outing, the lowest total the team has recorded in a game this season. The loss gave the Rainiers a 4-2 series record over their six-game set with the Bees.

Salt Lake made things tough for the Rainiers early in the outing after notching three runs in the top of the second.

First baseman Mike Trumbo led things off with a solo home run. The long ball was followed by a triple from shortstop Carlos Colmenares that scored Michael Ryan for Salt Lake. A single from Peter Bourjos two batters later drove in Colmenares to top off the inning.

Three more Salt Lake runs scored over the fifth and sixth innings, highlighted by a two-run home run from shortstop Darwin Perez. Catcher Hank Conger capped off a strong night for the Bees at the plate with a two-run home run in the top of the ninth.

The lone Rainiers run came in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a solo home run from third baseman Matt Tuiasosopo.

Starter Daniel Davidson earned his seventh win of the season for Salt Lake following a night where the left-hander gave up one run on two hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

Tacoma starter Chris Seddon was tagged with the loss, his fourth of the season, after allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits over five innings with two walks and four strikeouts.

The Rainiers now hit the road to begin a four-game series with Sacramento. The first game is slated to begin at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, with Tacoma right-hander David Pauley set to start against River Cats right-hander Kyle Middleton.
