SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Doug Deeds hit his sixth homer of the season, but it was not enough as the Aces fell 6-5 to Salt Lake in the series opener at Spring Mobile Ballpark.

Reno took an early lead, as Yunesky Sanchez got the Aces on the board with a two-run double in the second. Deeds followed with an RBI-single to give the Aces a 3-0 lead, but the Bees would chip away, eventually taking the lead for good on a Cory Aldridge RBI-double in the seventh.

Wes Roemer tossed the first five innings but did not figure in the decision. Zach Kroenke (2-3) took the loss for Reno after giving up the eventual game-winning run.

Salt Lake starter Fernando Rodriguez also settled for a no decision after throwing the first five frames. Rafael Rodriguez (5-3) earned the victory for the Bees, keeping the Aces off the scoreboard over 2.1 innings of relief work, before Michael Kohn shut the door in the ninth for his fifth save.

Deeds finished the evening 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk and a sacrifice bunt. Sanchez added two RBIs, while Pedro Ciriaco went 2-for-4 for his second-straight multi-hit game.

Reno and Salt Lake continue the series Sunday afternoon from Spring Mobile Ballpark. The Aces send RHP Bryan Augenstein (4-6, 5.89 ERA) to the mound against Bees RHP Marco Albano (2-6, 6.79 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT from Spring Mobile Ballpark, and all the action can be heard live in Reno on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM.
