Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
Omaha southpaw Eric Skoglund fired his second consecutive quality start and center fielder Nick Heath recorded two hits, while Tacoma lefty Anthony Misiewicz yielded a lone earned run over six frames and shortstop Kelby Tomlinson scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch as the Rainiers topped the Storm Chasers 3-2 in ten innings on Tuesday evening at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Washington.
Skoglund (6.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K) for the second time in as many outings spun a quality outing yet did not earn a victory, ultimately receiving a no-decision on Tuesday evening after yielding two earned runs on seven hits in six frames. Relievers Yunior Marte and Jonathan Dziedzic (0.1 IP, 2 BB) joined forces for 2.1 scoreless frames of support, though righty Jake Newberry (1.0 IP, 0 H, R, 0 ER, 2 BB, K) would suffer the defeat. Misiewicz (6.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, ER, BB, 8 K) also did not factor in the decision despite six solid frames, with right-hander Matt Carasiti (1.0 IP, H) earning the win.
Omaha struck first with a two-spot in the fourth. 3B Kelvin Gutierrez slapped a one-out triple to center before coming home when C Nick Dini reached on a fielder's choice. Dini would eventually come across via SS Jecksson Flores ' sacrifice fly, doubling the advantage to two. Tacoma 1B Jordan Pacheco 's RBI double and LF John Andreoli 's run-scoring single in the fifth, however, evened the contest at 2-2. The draw remained until the extra frame, when Tomlinson came plateward on a wild pitch to give the Rainiers the victory.
Storm Chasers CF Nick Heath (2-5) recorded the first two knocks of his Triple-A career and was the only member of the road side to record a multi-hit effort. DH Jaycob Brugman (2-2, R, 2B, 2 BB), meanwhile, posted a two-hit game while reaching base four times for Tacoma.
The two teams are set to face off in the second game of their three-game series on Wednesday evening in Tacoma. First pitch is scheduled for 9:05pm CT.
Omaha returns home to Werner Park on Wednesday, August 7 to start a seven-game homestand. First pitch of the series opener versus the Salt Lake Bees is set for 7:05pm CT.
Tickets for that game and all remaining Storm Chasers home contests can be purchased online at www.omahastormchasers.com, or by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office from noon until 6:00pm Monday through Friday at (402) 738-5100.
