Aces Power Past Iowa, Win Seventh Consecutive Game

Reno, Nevada. - The Reno Aces have been victorious in seven consecutive games following a 13-6 win over the visiting Iowa Cubs on Tuesday night. Reno entered tonight's contest having swept back-to-back series for the first time since 2012. The I-Cubs jumped out to an early 2-0 against starter Jon Duplantier in the top of the first inning tonight. Reno responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first, two in the second and four in the fourth inning to take a 7-5 lead. A Dixon Machado homer in the top of the 7th made is 6-9, but a nice string of hitting from John Ryan Murphy (walk), Ben DeLuzio (RBI Double), Juniel Querecuto (RBI single) and Ildemaro Vargas (single) broke the game open with the Aces leading 11-6. Querecuto was the star of the show tonight, homering twice and driving in five runs in a 3-for-5 effort. Matt Koch tossed the final five innings out of the bullpen for manager Chris Cron. Koch went 5.0 innings, allowed two runs on five hits and struck out eight. The Aces will go for the series victory tomorrow night with the first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m.

Former Ace Traded at Deadline: Former Aces standout Trevor Bauer was traded from the Cleveland Indians to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night as part of a three-team deal. With the Indians sending the 2012 Aces right-hander to Cincinnati, the Reds are sending Yasiel Puig to Cleveland, while Padres' left-hander Logan Allen is also Indians-bound while outfield prospect OF prospect Taylor Trammell will head to San Diego, according to the report. Bauer went 5-1 with a 2.85 ERA in 2012 for Reno and struck out 97 in 82 innings of work while being named to the 2012 MLB Futures Game.

Lucky 7's: the Reno Aces have won seven consecutive games for the first time in almost a calendar year. In 2018, Reno won seven straight games from July 26-August second with a sweep of the Round Rock Express sandwiched between a win at New Orleans and two wins against Colorado Springs.
