Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
The series opener of a four-game set between Lynchburg and Frederick was suspended when a torrential downpour covered Calvin Falwell Field in water on Thursday night. The Keys had just taken a 2-1 lead when play was halted in the top of the fourth inning. The game will resume in the top of the fourth on Friday at 6:05 p.m. followed by a 7-inning contest.
Lynchburg jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Jordy Mercer drove in Jose De Los Santos with an RBI single. The Cats held the lead until the top of the fourth when Frederick scored two runs on three hits to claim a 2-1 edge. Heavy rain soaked City Stadium immediately after Frederick's Brandon Waring knocked in Robbie Widlansky with an RBI single and the game was suspended.
The Cats and Keys will pick up Thursday's game with Frederick leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth on Friday night at 6:05 p.m. and the 9-inning contest will be completed. The two teams will then play a 7-inning game after the conclusion of the suspended game.
