Rain Postpones Series Opener at Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AUGUST 18, 2015) - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, had their game with the Winston-Salem Dash postponed due to rain on Tuesday at BB&T Ballpark. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday, August 19. Both games will be seven-inning contests with the first pitch for game one scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET. The second game will be played approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the first contest.

Both scheduled starters from Tuesday's matchup will start game one; Jonathan Martinez (8-2, 2.83) will take the hill for Myrtle Beach in game one while Dash right-hander Yency Almonte (2-1, 2.29) has the 5:30 p.m. ET first pitch. For the second game, righty Jen-Ho Tseng (5-7, 3.65) is slated to start for the Pelicans, and left-hander Andre Wheeler (4-2, 3.51) will go for Winston-Salem.

The games can be heard live on 1450 WRNN-AM ESPN Myrtle Beach, on the TuneIn Radio App, and via the MiLB First Pitch App, beginning with the Pregame Show at 6:40 p.m. ET. The games will also air along with the Winston-Salem live streaming video feed on MiLB.tv (subscription required).

The Pelicans return home Monday, August 24, for the final homestand of the season, kicking off with a three-game series against Winston-Salem and wrapping up with four games versus Wilmington.
