Mike Meyers Joins Salem Red Sox

The Salem Red Sox have received OF Mike Meyers from Low-A Greenville and placed IF Mario Martinez on the disabled list retroactive to Friday, August 14. Meyers will wear number 24 and is active for tonight's game at Carolina.

Meyers has appeared in 92 games with Greenville, batting .296 with 18 doubles, six triples, five home runs and 40 RBI. Drafted by Boston in the 12th round in 2012, the Las Vegas, Nevada native led the New York-Penn League in 2014 and set a Short Season-A Lowell record with nine triples. This will be his first appearance in High-A.

Martinez has not played since August 4 and is batting .268 with 12 doubles, four home runs and 42 RBI in 83 games. He spent 2014 with Salem and batted .268 with nine home runs and 62 RBI.

The Red Sox roster now sits one below the league maximum at 24 with five on the disabled list.
