Frederick Keys News Release

Lynchburg, Va. -The Lynchburg Hillcats scored in each of their last five trips to bat, while using big games from Eric Haase and Clint Frazier to earn an 8-2 victory over the Frederick Keys on Tuesday night at City Stadium. With the loss, the Keys are now three games behind the Hillcats for first in the CL North standings.

Lynchburg's big inning came in the eighth, as Haase penciled his name in the Carolina League record books. Frazier stroked a one-out single through the right side and got to third on a double by Joe Sever before Ronan Pacheco intentionally walked Dorsyss Paulino. Batting with the bases loaded, Haase hit his third triple in as many at-bats to clear the bases and complete the Hillcats scoring. In the process, he tied the league record for most triples in a game, the fourth time it had occurred in league history. Prior to Haase, the last person to accomplish the feat was Chone Figgins with Salem on June 7, 2000.

Frazier also enjoyed a fine game, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Both were solo shots, and accounted for markers in the fourth and sixth innings. It was his second two- homer game of the season, with both coming against the Keys (he also accomplished the feat on May30 at Nymeo Field).

Frederick scored both of its runs in eighth against Robbie Aviles. A double play ball moved Tad Gold to third, and he scored on an RBI single by Yaisel Mederos. The Cuban would then steal second, before coming home on a base hit by Adrian Marin. Mederos paced the Keys offense going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. It marked the first time the 26-year-old had posted a three-hit game since signing with the Orioles.

On the mound, Michael Peoples tossed 6.2 shutout innings for Lynchburg. He walked three and struck out six, while he worked around a bases loaded jam in the sixth, thanks to a strikeout of Mederos. The win moves Peoples (9-3) into a tie for third in the CL in victories.

Mitch Horacek (7-14) suffered the loss, giving up four runs on six hits over six innings. The lefty struck out seven and allowed two home runs.

Lynchburg scored the game's first run in the initial frame. LeVon Washington was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a stolen base and a single by Yhoxian Medina. He would score on an RBI fielder's choice by Frazier. Haase would score on each of his first two triples, first in the fifth on a single by Mike Papi, and then in the seventh on a base hit by Paul Hendrix.

The Keys and Hillcats continue their three-game series on Wednesday night at City Stadium. Right-hander David Hess (8-4, 3.85) starts for the Keys against Hillcats southpaw Jayson Aquino (0-1, 2.79). First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m and the broadcast can be heard on 1450 AM The Source and frederickkeys.com.

Frederick returns home on Friday, August 21 when the Myrtle Beach Pelicans came to town. The homestand will kick off with Fredneck Night and will include an appearance from the stars of the TruTV show Lizard Lick Towing. There will also be postgame fireworks presented by Nymeo.
