Columbus Catfish News Release

Columbus, GA - The Columbus Catfish (13-7) were beating the Kannapolis Intimidators (12-8) Thursday night by the score of 3-2 when rain started falling right before the bottom of the 3rd inning. Rain had already caused the game to be delayed by an hour earlier in the evening.

The Catfish scored again in the first inning for the fourth night in a row. The first two runs came off a triple by Greg Sexton that scored Shawn O'Malley and Reid Fronk. Stephen Vogt the next batter hit a sacrifice fly and scored Greg Sexton giving the Catfish a 3-0 lead.

Kannapolis once again showed their power hitting two solo home runs in the top of the 2nd inning. The first home run came from Mark Fleisher who had hit 2 home runs the night before, and the 2nd home run came off the bat of Sergio Morales. The two home runs made the score 3-2 Catfish, and that is where it would remain as rain postponed the rest of the game.

Friday night the Catfish will have an NBC 38 Fireworks show after the game, and because of the rain Friday draft beer will only by $1.00. Also any tickets from Thursday's game can be reused to get into any game this weekend at Golden Park. Tomorrow the Columbus Catfish start a 4 game series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
