Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers 2-1 Thursday night at State Mutual Stadium in front of 2,985 fans in a 14 inning 4:02 game.
A ground out by Rome's Chad Lundahl sent Cole Miles home in the fourth inning for the first run of the evening for the 1-0 Rome lead.
The Hoppers tied the game 1-1 in the sixth on a solo home run by Rome native Tom Hickman.
In bottom of the 14th, Rome loaded the bases with one out and Freddie Freeman coaxed a walk to send home the winning run giving the Braves the 2-1 victory. It also gave Rome the series win three games to one.
Tommy Palica (6-4) takes the win for Rome going two innings with no runs and five strikeouts. Kevin Gunter (1-1) is tagged with the loss for Greensboro.
