El Paso Diablos News Release

El Paso, TX- It was a gloom start to the series, but the Diablos waited out the rain and exploded offensively to take the first of their three game series with the Grand Prairie AirHogs 8-2.

As soon as the umpire said play ball, the Diablos bats were on fire, scoring three runs in the first inning thanks to a RBI single from second baseman Jose Garcia, and two more from center fielder Brian Joynt.

Even though the Diablos didn't duplicate another three run inning, they stayed consistent through the next seven innings scoring five runs, the biggest one being a solo home run from right fielder Edgar Corcino in the fourth inning.

Just as solid as the Diablos offense was the Diablos pitching, starting pitcher Luis Chirinos was solid going 7.0 innings, only giving up two runs, on five hits, with three strike outs. Relief pitching for the Diablos was superb as well giving up no runs in the last two inning of the game.

The Diablos are now 6-14 this season, with two more games against the Grand Prairie AirHogs. The Diablos play tomorrow night, 7:05 at Cohen Stadium.
