
Lemurs Lose Series to Airhogs

Grand Prairie, TX-After sweeping the first South Division series at home against Grand Prairie, the Lemurs dropped the finale of a five-game road set 7-5 to give the Airhogs a series win at QuikTrip Park.
Laredo opened the game with a single run in the first, and would hold that lead through the first four innings.ÃâàThe Lemurs extended the lead to 3-0 to start the fifth.ÃâàGrand Prairie closed the gap to 3-1 with a run in the bottom of the fifth.ÃâàLaredo added a run in the top of the sixth.ÃâàLeading off the bottom of the sixth, Grand Prairie designated hitter Andres Rodriguez reached first on an error and advanced to second.ÃâàThird baseman Juan Richardson singled home Rodriguez to cut the lead to 4-2.ÃâàAnother error allowed short stop Ryan Pineda to reach.ÃâàA sacrifice bunt by catcher Angel Flores then pushed runners to second and third.ÃâàGrand Prairie first baseman Frazier Hall grounded out to second to score Richardson and make it a 4-3 game.ÃâàWith two outs and a runner at third, right fielder Kenny Held singled to score Pineda and the game was tied at 4-4.ÃâàCenter fielder Keanon Simon then drew a two-out walk to put runners at first and second again.ÃâàA single by second baseman Brandon Pinckney gave the Airhogs their first lead at 5-4.
The seventh inning started with a triple by Lemurs short stop Jimmy Mojica.ÃâàCenter fielder Sawyer Carroll then scored Mojica on a sacrifice fly out to left that tied it at 5-5.ÃâàIn the bottom of the seventh, the Airhogs put a base runner on with a one-out single by third baseman Juan Richardson.ÃâàShort stop Ryan Pineda followed with a single of his own for runners at first and second.ÃâàCatcher Angel Flores then cleared the bases with a double and Grand Prairie had a two-run lead it would not relinquish.
Laredo starter Ryan Sasaki pitched five innings of eight-hit ball for a no-decision.ÃâàSasaki allowed three runs (one earned) with two walks and two strikeouts.ÃâàReliever Garrett Rau (1-1) took the loss.ÃâàRau threw two innings and gave up two runs on five hits with one strikeout.ÃâàGrand Prairie reliever Jakob Cunningham posted the win.ÃâàCunningham (1-0) worked one inning and gave up one earned run on one base hit.ÃâàAirhogs starter Jake Cowan went six innings and allowed four earned runs on ten hits.
The Lemurs finished 2-3 on the road trip, and now sit at 5-3 against Grand Prairie (8-12) this season.ÃâàFirst-place Laredo (14-7) is back home Friday night to start a weekend series against Amarillo.ÃâàFirst pitch is at 7:30.ÃâàFor more information, visit www.laredolemurs.com.
