Cleburne Railroaders News Release
GRAND PRAIRIE, Tex. - The Cleburne Railroaders won the completion of a suspended game 8-5 and dropped the regularly scheduled game 4-3 in eight innings to the Texas AirHogs on Wednesday night at AirHogs Stadium.
Game One Recap:
With the game restarting tied at 3-3 in the fifth, Texas took the early initiative with a pair of runs on a Stewart Ijames home run and a Stephen Haviar RBI groundout. The Railroaders answered in the top of the sixth with three runs of their own, all with two outs. Nick Rotola dumped a two-run single into right, and Angel Reyes grounded a single up the middle to plate another as Cleburne grabbed a 6-5 lead.
Daniel Robertson punched a two-run single up the middle in the eighth to give the Railroaders more breathing room.
Stephen Johnson (5-1) worked all five innings for Cleburne to earn the win. He allowed two runs on six hits, striking out five and walking one. Tu Jialun (1-2) took the loss for Texas, surrendering three unearned runs over two innings of work.
Game Two Recap:
Cleburne seized a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single from Hunter Clanin, but Texas answered quickly with a run of their own in the second on an RBI double from Li Ning.
Clanin gave the Railroaders a 3-1 lead in the third with a two-run homer, but the AirHogs scored single runs in the third and fourth to even the score at 3-3. Neither team produced a baserunner in the sixth and seventh, sending the game into extra innings of the seven-inning contest. After Cleburne went down in order in the top of the frame, Texas loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the eighth on a walk, catcher's interference, and a single. Nefi Ogando (3-4) gave up a walk-off single to Stephen Haviar to end the game.
The Railroaders and AirHogs continue their series on Thursday night at 7:05 PM. Jesus Sanchez (7-2, 3.04) starts for Cleburne, while Texas is expected to counter with Erik Manoah Jr. (4-3, 6.66).
