RailCats Start Homestand Friday

GARY, Ind. - The RailCats return home for a seven-game homestand at U. S. Steel Yard beginning on Friday night at 7:10.

On Fireworks Friday, there will be a post-game fireworks extravaganza. It is also Wig Out Night. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite wig to the ballpark to support the American Cancer Society. All the proceeds from that night's tennis ball and Frisbee toss will go to the American Cancer Society in order to purchase wigs for cancer patients that have lost their hair due to chemotherapy treatments.

Friday will also be Greek and Negro League Night. Fans that wear their sorority or fraternity letters will receive $1 off box seats, and groups of 20 or more from Greek organizations will receive $2 off box seats. Former Negro League legends will appear at the Steel Yard. There will also be a sunglasses giveaway to the first 1,000 kids sponsored by ArcelorMittal.

Saturday's 6:10 game is Chicago Sports Night and there will be a RailCats baseball giveaway to the first 500 kids. Gary Literacy Coalition will be onsite promoting making Gary "A Reading City" and giving away books and t-shirts to the first 1,000 kids through the gates.

On Times Family Sunday, kids will run the bases post-game and there will be RailCats players signing autographs on the field after the 2:10 game. Fans may also purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four pops for $36 using the coupon from the Times. It is also Special Olympics Day, as the special Olympians will be on the field for a pre-game parade and will play softball on the field after the game. There is also a RailCats baseball giveaway to the first 500 kids.

The RailCats will honor the greatest facial hair known to man - the mustache - on Mustache Monday at 7:10. Fans are encouraged to show off their best mustache and the first 300 fans will be given a free mustache. That will be the final game of the four-game set against St. Paul.

The Amarillo Sox will come to town to start a three-game series on Tuesday at 7:10. Tuesday night's game will be Free Pizza Tuesday, as all fans will get a free slice of pizza with a reserved or box seat ticket purchase. Wednesday's game is at 7:10 and it will be Wing it Wednesday, with 50 cent wings available in the Diamond Club.

Thursday night is Ladies Night and Bike Night, featuring a pre-game motorcycle parade on the field. It is also Thirsty Thursday with drafts of Miller Lite and Miller Genuine Draft on sale for just $1 at the concessions stand. The Thursday night game will start at 7:10.
