Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

GARY, IN - The Gary South Shore RailCats announced today they signed RHP Ben Santori and released RHP AJ Quintero. Santori just completed his senior season at Robert Morris University in Chicago. Quintero was signed just three days ago on June 7th.

As a senior at Robert Morris, Santori earned second-team All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors after recording a conference best 1.79 ERA. He went 7-3 and tied for the team lead in strikeouts with 42 while playing at the NAIA level. The righty started 12 games and threw four complete games.

Sanori was dominant in his junior season as well. He went 8-3 while registering two complete game shutouts (against Purdue North Central and Purdue Calumet). He had a 2.26 ERA and struck out 43 batters.

Santori is originally from Chicago Heights, Illinois and went to high school at Marion Catholic, just across the state line in Illinois. He posted a 4-2 record with a 2.71 ERA during his senior season while adding two complete games and two saves. Santori went to South Suburban College for two years before transferring to Robert Morris.

This is the fourth time the RailCats have released Quintero in his professional career. The California native has played in parts of three seasons on the SouthShore. He pitched on Tuesday, June 7th and went 2.2 innings. He left the game with an apparent hand injury.

2016 is the 15th season of baseball on the SouthShore and tickets are still available. Call 219-882-2255 or visit www.railcatsbaseball.com for more info.
