Kansas City Monarchs News Release
GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats won their eighth consecutive game and completed a four-game sweep of the T-Bones with a 4-3 final on Thursday night. Kansas City has now lost four straight.
The RailCats jumped ahead with a two-run first inning on four hits, capped on an RBI double from Brian Kolb to get a 2-0 lead. The RailCats tacked on single runs in the second and sixth innings.
Kansas City's only offense came in the seventh inning, when Ray Sadler and Kody Hightower both scored the team's first runs on a infield single from Steve Yoo, which was also aided by the fourth error in the game for Gary SouthShore. Then Kennard Jones drove in Yoo with a two-out RBI single that pulled to within one at 4-3.
Kansas City got the first start of the season from Dustin Loggins (1-1) who settled down after the second inning. Loggins allowed four earned runs, but at one time retired 11 straight batters.
Gary SouthShore starter Alain Quijano (6-2) went 6 1/3 innings and allowed just six total baserunners. Only one of the three runs charged to Quijano was earned.
Next up for the T-Bones (15-25) is a three-game series at Fargo-Moorhead beginning Friday night at 7:02.
