Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats activated right-handed pitcher Sam Myers from the Disabled List before game one of Thursday's doubleheader. Myers was placed on the DL retroactive to May 21 with a bruised right forearm after being hit by a line drive in his season debut on May 20 vs. the Saint Paul Saints.
Myers allowed two runs on four hits and a walk in 1.1 innings in his season debut and is expected to make his first professional start in game one of Thursday's doubleheader vs. the Chicago Dogs. Myers re-signed with Gary on Jan. 8, 2018, after signing his first professional baseball contract with Gary on Aug. 7, 2017.
Myers finished without a record and one save in 11 relief outings in his first season with the 'Cats in 2017. In 16.1 innings, Myers held opponents to a .190 batting average and yielded just 11 hits and a walk while striking out 16.
Game one of Thursday's doubleheader is at 5 p.m. and game two will follow approximately 30 minutes after the completion of game one. Myers (0-0, 13.50) opposes Dogs' LHP Scott Barnes (0-0, 3.00) in game one and Gary's LHP Jeff McKenzie squares off against Chicago's LHP Kylin Turnbull (1-1, 2.45) in game two.
Thursday's game is the first Beer and Dog Thursday, presented by Miller Lite and GFS, a Gerber Collision and Glass Thursday, and a Munster & Dyer Community Night, presented by Fifth Third Bank. Beer and Dog Thursday features $2.50 hot dogs, $1.50 domestic drafts and $3 select premium drafts.
Office Wednesday punch card holders can use Wednesday's punch for any 2018 home game and festivities for "Office Wednesdays - Office Olympics" will occur during Game two of tomorrow's doubleheader.
