Cleburne Railroaders News Release
WICHITA, Kansas - Tyler Wilson struck out eight batters over three relief innings, and the Cleburne Railroaders rallied with a pair of unearned runs in a 4-3 win to salvage the finale of a four-game set with the Wichita Wingnuts at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Thursday night.
Wilson came on in relief of Roman Gomez -- who gave up three runs over five innings in his second start, and -- recorded a season-high eight strikeouts with four walks and one hit over his three scoreless frames.
After falling behind 3-2 in the fifth, Cleburne answered with two outs in the sixth when Trevor Sealey hit a ground ball off of Tony Thomas's glove at third and down the left-field line, allowing Alex Polston to score.
In the eighth inning, Blake Grant-Parks hit a one-out single to right and advanced to second after outfielder Isaiah Aluko overran the ball. Grant-Parks got to third on Jordan Dean's groundout, and scored when Sealey hit a ball off of reliever James Campbell's glove and legged out the go-ahead infield single.
Cleburne scored twice in the first before the Wingnuts answered in the third. A bases-loaded sacrifice fly from Abel Nieves eventually gave the Wingnuts their first lead of the night.
Angelo Gumbs recorded his third multi-hit game as a Railroader, while Polston went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored and Levi Scott walked twice. K.C. Huth reached twice, and Cam Monger singled and scored.
Shawn Blackwell earned his second save of the year with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
The Railroaders now return home to open a six-game homestand, beginning with a three-game series against the St. Paul Saints. First pitch from the The Depot is set for 7:06 p.m., and RHP Dylan Mouzakes will square off against RHP Vinny Nittoli.
Friday night is also Fireworks Night, presented by the Cleburne Times-Review. Get your tickets at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
