Rage's Stevens Named CHL Equipment Manager of the Year

March 17, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Central Hockey League announced today that the Rocky Mountain Rage's Patrick Stevens is the league's Equipment Manager of the Year.

Recognized in a vote among his peers around the CHL, Stevens, who goes by the nickname of "Loaf," is in his second year as the head equipment manager for the Rage and was chosen to serve in that same capacity for the Northern Conference All-Star Team at this season's CHL All-Star Game.

"Loaf's been with me a long time, and he's certainly deserving of the award," said Rage head coach Tracy Egeland. "He works hard and puts in a lot of hours when no one else is at the rink, so it's nice that the league has recognized him for all of his effort."

Stevens began as a volunteer assistant with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs during the 1998-99 season before landing his first head position with the Lubbock Cotton Kings in 2002-03. Lubbock is where he made the acquaintance of Egeland, whom he followed to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees the next season. Both then moved to Broomfield to join the Rage at the start of the 2006-07 campaign.

Stevens lives in Broomfield with his wife, Brandy, and their infant daughter, Makynzie.

The Rage are fighting to qualify for the President's Cup Playoffs, a berth in which they hope to achieve while playing their last three games of the regular season on the road at Arizona (Wednesday), Tulsa (Friday), and Bossier-Shreveport (Saturday). Rocky Mountain currently stands sixth in the Northern Conference, one point behind Mississippi for the fifth and final playoff spot.
