Rafters Split Series with Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo, Mich- The Rafters split another series against the Kalamazoo Grolwers, as they move to 2-2 against them on the season. The Rafters won the first game 5-0 and took a loss 1-0 in the second game of the day. Pitching ruled the day as the Rafters had two right-handed pitchers throw some outstanding ball games.

The Rafters right-hander James Davitt (Bryant) threw a hitless 6.1 innings after coming on for Jack Riley in the game that was restarted after being suspended Saturday night. Davitt only allowed one base-runner in his outing as the Rafters tacked on four runs in the final five innings to win the first game of the doubleheader. Jack Riley (UConn) was strong in his 3.2 innings of work, but could not continue his outing. Riley held the Growlers scoreless and only allowed 3 hits. Demetrius Sims (Bethune-Cookman) and Sam Tolleson (Central Florida) each had RBI singles for the Rafters in the game.

The Rafters fell 1-0 in the second game of the day, as Shane Bryant threw a complete game, one-hit shutout. Adam Hall (Xavier) was outstanding for the Rafters as well, only allowing one run in 5.2 innings. Runs were hard to come by all day as the Raftres only allowed one run in the series and took a split.

The Rafters hit the road for another two games in Lakeshore to conclude this four game road trip.. The Rafters return home to Historic Witter Field Wednesday to take on the first place Kenosha Kingfish. Tickets are still available, call 715-424-5400.
