Green Bay, Wis.- The Green Bay Bullfrogs completed their first sweep of the season with a 7-2 victory against the Madison Mallards on Sunday at Joannes Stadium.

The Bullfrogs outhit the Mallards 11-2 in the game, as Green Bay improved to 8-8 on the season.

Parker Hamilton earned the win in six innings of work. He allowed one earned run on two hits and three walks and struck out four batters.

Matt Bower came into the game with a 0.69 earned run average, but the Bullfrogs hit him hard early. Bower picked up the loss in 2 2/3 innings, allowed six runs on seven hits and a walk. He also struck out two batters for the Mallards.

Madison scored an unearned run in the opening inning with a RBI groundout hit by Mikey Diekroeger.

Green Bay sent eight batters to the plate in the bottom half of the first inning and scored four runs. With the bases loaded, Connor Ross singled sharply down the rightfield line to score two. Matthew De La Rosa drove a RBI double to the gap in left-centerfield, and Desi Ammons followed with a run-scoring sacrifice bunt to give the Bullfrogs a 4-1 lead.

Ammons picked up his first hit in the Northwoods League in the third inning, and it came in a key situation. With two outs, he stepped up the plate and ripped a double down the rightfield line to score Ryan Donovan, who led off the inning with a double. Ammons scored three batters later on a fielder's choice to the shortstop hit by Logan Taylor to extend the Bullfrogs' lead to 6-1.

Anthony Gonsolin, who pitched for the Mallards in relief last night, connected on a solo home run over the left-centerfield wall in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to four.

In the bottom half of the inning, Donovan smashed a RBI triple to deep centerfield to extend the Bullfrogs' lead. He was thrown out at home on the play trying to score after an overthrow to third base.

Jake Stolley made his Bullfrogs' season debut and pitched two perfect innings with a pair of strikeouts. Luke VanLanen pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the game.

Following a doubleheader on the road tomorrow against the Wisconsin Woodchucks, the Bullfrogs will return to Joannes Stadium for Turn Back the Clock Night on June 16.

Bullfrogs' players will be wearing Green Bay Blue Ribbon uniforms to celebrate the history of Joannes Stadium, where the Blue Ribbons played in the Wisconsin State League from 1970 until 1995. The Blue Ribbons won the league's championship 13 times, including three consecutive titles from 1979-1981. The jerseys will auctioned off following the game.

The game will begin at 7:05 p.m., and gates open one hour prior to the first pitch.
