Mallards Seek Series Split with Bullfrogs

June 14, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Madison Mallards News Release

Madison, Wis. - After dropping the opener of a two-game road set on Saturday, the Madison Mallards (9-9) will look to salvage the series finale on Sunday against the Green Bay Bullfrogs (7-8) at Joannes Stadium. Comprehensive coverage of today's contest, scheduled for 1:05 p.m., will be available on 100.5 FM ESPN Madison.

Mallards field manager Donnie Scott will send Matt Bower (Washington State) to the mound for his third start of the season this afternoon. The 6-foot-5 southpaw selected by the Houston Astros in last week's MLB Draft is 1-0 with a sterling 0.69 ERA this summer, a span of time in which he's punched out 19 hitters and walked two in 13 total innings.

To counter, the Bullfrogs will task right-handed pitcher Parker Hamilton (Florida Gulf Coast) with his third starting job of the 2015 season. Hamilton, a 6-foot-2 native of Jupiter, Fla., is 0-1 with a 0.87 ERA across his first two outings of the summer. He was limited to just three appearances (3.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, K) during his freshman collegiate campaign.

The Mallards will return home on Friday, June 19 against the Kenosha Kingfish. Next Friday will be Valpak Great Outdoors Night at the Duck Pond, featuring a Pepsi Outdoorsman Maynard Bobblehead Giveaway presented by WKOW TV. For tickets, call the Mallards ticket office at 608-246-4277 or visit MallardsBaseball.com.
