Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Wausau, Wis- The Rafters bats were alive and well last Sunday at Athletic Park as Wisconsin Rapids defeated the Woodchucks 10-9. With yesterday's game being postponed, the Rafters hope to still carry the momentum from Sunday's win into today's ball game. Both teams are currently 2-3 in the 2nd half and come into the game tonight tied for 5th place in the South Division standings.

Brian Russell (College of Staten Island) will be on the hill today for Wisconsin Rapids. The righty is 1-1 with a 2.85 ERA on the season. He has been especially outstanding in his last three starts, going 20 total innings, allowing only 3 earned runs, and opponents are batting .158 against him in those starts. The Rafters bats have also been on a tear the last two games, averaging 12 runs a ball game in the two wins, and 10 runs a game if you include their last three games. Jake Sandlin (Georgia College) has propelled the offense in these last three games, going 7-10 with a home run and 5 RBI's in that stretch.

The Rafters return to Athletic Park again tomorrow, before heading to Michigan for a four game out of state trip. First pitch for today and tomorrow's game will be at 6:35 PM. The Rafters will not return to Witter Field until July 14th when they will face off against the Madison Mallards.
