Alexandria Blue Anchors News Release


St. Cloud, Minn. - The Alexandria Blue Anchors defeated the St. Cloud Rox 1-0 Tuesday night at Joe Faber Field. The Anchors now have a record of 5-2 in the second half and 17-25 on the season.

The only run of the evening came in the top of the second inning against the Rox' starter Reese Gregory. Ricky Sanchez hit a leadoff double and scored on a Matt Duce base hit.

The Alexandria pitching staff was led by Zach Muckenhirn (1-1) who got the victory. He pitched a eight shutout innings giving just two hits and three walks while striking out six batters. Josh Baumgart got his first save of the season pitching a scoreless ninth calling just one base hit.

Minnesota Baseball Academy Player of the Game - Zach Muckenhirn (SP) - The lefty out of the University of North Dakota pitched arguably the best game of any Blue Anchor this season. The eight innings is a season-high for Muck and he's now gone 15 straight innings without giving up a run.
