Lind to Make First Start for Bullfrogs
July 7, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- The Green Bay Bullfrogs will look for another solid pitching performance tonight, following Garrett Harrison's performance in last night's 8-0 win.
Harrison pitched seven shutout innings, allowing four hits and no walks with four strikeouts. He improved his record to 3-1, and his earned run average dropped to 1.11 in six starts this season.
With the game scoreless in the top of the third inning, Brian Celsi singled to score Mikey Duarte, followed by another run-scoring single for Celsi in the fifth to give Green Bay a 2-0 lead.
Celsi finished 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored.
Duarte's two-out single plated a run in in the sixth. He was in a rundown between first and second base during the next at bat, which allowed Ty Blankmeyer to score from third.
Green Bay extended its lead to seven in the top of the seventh inning with three more runs. With two outs, Mason George hit a two-RBI double down the right-field line and scored on play after an error by pitcher Josh Alberius.
The Bullfrogs added another run in the ninth when Caleb Ratzman scored on a fielder's choice to third hit by George.
With the win, Green Bay Field Manager Darrell Handelsman moved into first place in the all-time wins list in the Northwoods League.
Tonight's game against the Battle Creek Bombers will begin tonight at 6:05 at C.O. Brown Stadium.
Luke Lind will make his first start of the season for the Bullfrogs. He has made two appearances thus far, including a long relief appearance when he threw 5 1/3 innings on June 30 against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. Lind allowed three runs with seven strikeouts in a 6-5 victory for Green Bay.
Tonight's Battle Creek starter Edgar Sanchez has made 11 appearances and will be making his third start of the year. Sanchez pitched against the Bullfrogs on June 7 in three innings of relief work in which he allowed one hit, one run and two walks in a 10-7 Green Bay win. He has a 2-1 record with a 2.64 earned run average in 30 2/3 innings pitched.
Following the two-game series against Battle Creek, the Bullfrogs will return to Joannes Stadium on July 9 against the Kalamazoo Growlers with a variety of promotional items for fans in attendance.
The first ladies through the gate will receive an ice cream scoop to use post game for the Diamonds & Gold Diamond Dig. WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler will be making a special guest appearance to sign autographs for fans and throw out the first pitch.
