Rafters Aim to Split Home and Home with Bullfrogs

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - After a tough 12-5 loss to Green Bay at home last night, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters move forward this afternoon facing Green Bay at their home of Joannes Stadium. At Witter Field last night, the Frogs struck first in the third off the solo home run to right by Jake Munoz. The cranberry and gold tied things at one in their half of the third with first of two RBI from Jack-Thomas Wold. Green Bay would then score five more between the fourth and fifth innings before Wisconsin Rapids could respond with a run of their own in the fifth. After an RBI double from Mitch Mallek in the seventh, the Bullfrogs broke it open with a six-run eighth inning. The Rafters scored two in the eighth as the Bullfrogs held on for a 12-5 final.

Charlie Ruegger (0-2, 5.60 ERA) was given the loss for the Rafters, while Leo Perez (1-0, 2.25 ERA) earned the win for Green Bay.

Starting for the Rafters this is afternoon in his season debut his Jake Cook (Birmingham Southern). Cook ended his junior season with the BSC Panthers 7-3 with an ERA of 2.56. He will start opposite Hugh Chapman (Georgia Tech). Chapman pitched to an 0-1 record in 12 appearances and three starts with a 9.60 ERA.
