Green Bay Rockers News Release

Green Bay, Wisc. - Following a 12-run, 12-hit performance last night in Wisconsin Rapids, the Green Bay Bullfrogs (2-4) were unable to figure out the Rapids pitching staff, along with having no answer for the WIR offense in a 13-1 defeat to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (4-2) from Joannes Stadium in Titletown. The Frogs clubbed only three hits, while the Rafters pounded 15 total tallies in the contest.

The Bullfrogs remain at home tomorrow night for the opener of a two-game series against the Kenosha Kingfish for the first meetings of 2018 with their Big Top Baseball rivals. First pitch is slated for a 6:35 p.m. start from Joannes. A live video webcast of the contest can be streamed online through the official Northwoods League website. Fans can also listen to the live audio broadcast on WOCO Radio (107.1 FM, 1260 AM) or online at WOCO.Caster.FM.

Green Bay first baseman Riley Mihalik (Junior, Rider Univ.) drove home the lone run of the game for the Bullfrogs in the third inning on a RBI triple. Mihalik finished 1-for-4 on the afternoon. Center fielder Cooper Morrison (Sophomore, UC Davis) finished 1-for-3 with a single, while third baseman Ethan Ibarra (Junior, St. Cloud State) was 1-for-4 with a base-knock.

Wisconsin Rapids took its first lead of the series in the top of the second inning on a RBI double catcher Jake Dunham to make it 1-0 and never looked back. The Rafter bats soon exploded with five runs in the third inning to extend their advantage out to a commanding 6-0 margin. The Rafters were held scoreless at the dish until the seventh when they tallied four runs in the frame followed by two in the eighth and one more tally in the visiting half of the ninth inning.

Rafters starting right-handed pitcher Jake Cook got the win, improving to 1-0. Bullfrogs starting righty Hugh Chapman (Freshman, Georgia Tech) took the loss in his Green Bay debut, falling to 1-0. Frogs right-handed reliever Elijah Baez (Sophomore, St. Bonaventure) led the pitching staff with three strikeouts.
