Edmonton, AB - The voice of professional baseball in Edmonton returns this weekend. Veteran broadcaster Al Coates will be the new voice of the Edmonton Capitals. All remaining weekend home games plus every game at Telus Field between the Caps and the arch rival Calgary Vipers will be broadcast via the internet at Capsbaseball.ca. The games will be broadcast free of charge and will be the product of a new partnership between the Edmonton Capitals and the Radio & Television Program at N.A.I.T. Catch all the exciting action starting this Friday with the pre-game show scheduled to launch at 7:50 p.m.
Promotional Schedule The Edmonton Capitals return home for a six game home stand beginning June 5th. The St. George Roadrunners will be in town for three games, followed by the Yuma Scorpions for the next three. The stands will be filled with excited fans as the team promises another week of electrifying baseball and just as exciting daily promotions.
Friday, June 5th - Fireworks Friday and Faith and Family Night Immediately following the game, fans will be treated to a fantastic display of fireworks. Faith and Family Night makes its' debut with the Edmonton Capitals this week. All faiths and families are invited down to enjoy the evening. There will be a free pre-game concert featuring Christian Rock Band, Run Kid Run beginning at 7pm on TELUS field.
Saturday, June 6th - Saturday Night Movies; Rockford Peach Tosses the First Pitch
The first pitch of Saturday's game will be thrown by Edmonton resident Betty Carveth (Dunn) who made history by playing for the All American Girls' Professional Baseball League during WWII. She was one of the original Rockford Peaches. This Saturday features our second movie in our series of baseball flicks throughout the summer. Baseball classic, 'A League of Their Own', will be shown on the drive-in movie screen in centre field. Directly after the game, fans are invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the show!
Sunday, June 7th - Signature Sunday/Father's Day Celebration
Celebrate Father's Day a little earlier this year with the Edmonton Capitals. Immediately following the game, fathers and their families are invited to head down to the field to collect autographs from the team. Families are also encouraged to stick around and play catch on TELUS field after the game.
