Friday, June 5th, the Edmonton Capitals return home to face the St. George RoadRunners in a three game home stand, followed by three games against the Yuma Scorpions. The week promises to be full of exciting promotions, kicking it all off with Fireworks Friday.

Friday night's forecast is for clear skies - the perfect environment to enjoy the Capitals game and Edmonton's greatest fireworks show in the river valley Get there early for a free pregame concert before the game featuring popular Christian Rock Band, Run Kid Run. The concert will be held from 7:15pm - 7:45pm inside TELUS field.

Run Kid Run Biography Hailing from the state of Illinois, Run Kid Run is a 4 piece pop rock band with huge hooks, infectious melodies, and uplifting lyrics. Saturday, June 6th Saturday Night Movies; Rockford Peach Tosses the First Pitch

This Saturday features our second movie in our series of baseball flicks throughout the summer. A League of Their Own, starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna will be shown on the drive-in movie screen in centre field. Directly after the game, fans are invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the show! The first pitch of Saturday's game will be thrown by Edmonton resident Betty Carveth (Dunn) made who history by playing for the All American Girls' Professional Baseball League during WWII. Carveth (Dunn) was a pitcher for the Rockford Peaches and Fort Wayne Daises. She started with Rockford in 1945, was traded to Fort Wayne in mid-season, married the following year, and left the Girls League to raise a family. Carveth (Dunn) and her husband settled in Edmonton and began their own plumbing business. She was the first woman in Edmonton to coach little league.

Betty Carveth (Dunn) has been recognized throughout Canada and the US as a pioneer of Woman's baseball. Along with the other members of the AAGPBL, Carveth (Dunn) was inducted into Cooperstown New York's National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988 and into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998.

Sunday, June 7th Signature Sunday/Father's Day Celebration

Celebrate Father's Day a little earlier this year with the Edmonton Capitals. Immediately following the game, fathers and their families are invited to head down to the field to collect autographs from the team. Families are also encouraged to stick around and play catch on TELUS field after the game.

Wednesday, June 10th Home Run Hooky / Weiner Wednesday

The first ever Home Run Hooky will be hosted by the Edmonton Capitals at 11:00am on June 10th. 3000 elementary and Jr. High school kids will be playing hooky from class and spending their day at TELUS field watching the Caps take on the Yuma Scorpions. Not to worry parents, the day will be filled with educational fun! Students will be tested with Edmonton trivia, scavenger hunts, score keeping, math and music lessons, and physical education exercises, all with a baseball twist. Come out and join the kids as they enjoy a day in the sun. It is also Weiner Wednesday, all Capital dogs will be sold for only $2. A huge thanks to the more than 60 Edmonton businesses who made it possible for school classes to attend June 10th's game.
