Racing Louisville FC News Release
Racing Louisville midfielder Savannah DeMelo has been called up to the U.S. Women's National Team for two upcoming exhibitions against China, U.S. Soccer announced Monday.
DeMelo will report to U.S. camp ahead of the two friendlies scheduled for Dec. 2 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Dec. 5 in Frisco, Texas.
Fellow Racing midfielder Wang Shuang represents China on the international stage and could feature against her teammate.
This is the third consecutive call-up to the national team for DeMelo since the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the 25-year-old started two group-stage matches for the Americans. She was the first player since Shannon Boxx in 2003 to make a U.S. World Cup roster without a previous appearance for the team, though she did receive call-ups to multiple camps.
DeMelo had a standout 2023 with Racing Louisville, scoring eight goals and assisting three in 23 appearances across all competitions this year. She was the NWSL Player of the Month for May and twice made the NWSL Team of the Month. She also received UKG NWSL Challenge Cup All-Tournament Team recognition. The California native finished the year with NWSL Best XI Second Team honors.
The Dec. 2 match kicks off at 3 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TNT, Telemundo, Universo, Max and Peacock. The game on Dec. 5 kicks off at 8 p.m. ET and will be carried by TruTV, Universo, Max and Peacock.
